Dispatch Manager: Express Employment Professionals

Our client in Woodstock Ontario is seeking an experienced Dispatch Manager to join their team.  This is a stable, successful company that would offer the successful candidate the opportunity for advancement in the future.  Below are the job responsibilities:

 
Responsibilities:

 
  • Oversee day to day dispatch.


  • Ensure all loads are covered efficiently and increase daily loads where possible.


  • Strong understanding of equipment to ensure proper equipment is used, and driver issues with equipment can be answered promptly.


  • Monitor and ensure scheduled  maintenance and washing of equipment is current. 


  • Ensure logs and maintenance summaries are collected monthly by deadlines.


  • Monitor Company and O/O revenue, load count to ensure loads are dispatched evenly.


  • Review your divisions  P&L and Company Truck P&L, control costs as necessary.


  • Deal with day to day driver dispatch issues / minor incidents.


  • Work closely with daily dispatch group.


  • Deal with minor customer complaints / issues.


  • Review all detentions for Operations Manager approval.


  • Monitor and report equipment utilization company and O/O.


  • Work with Dispatch team to build individual strengthens for advancement.


  • Work with new drivers to ensure proper training and issues are addressed.


  • Monitor office employees for training or re-training where necessary.


  • Increase load count and revenue by proper equipment utilization, trucks, trailers, drivers.


  • Ensure proper reporting of all accidents and incidents.


  • Complete equipment utilization report weekly.


  • Complete any customer utility reports as required.


  • Cover any holiday within the dispatch group.


  • Schedule all driver and O/O vacations to ensure proper coverage is kept.


  • Participate in driver reviews company and O/O when dispatching issues arise.


  • Other responsibilities as required.

 
Qualifications

 


  • Post-secondary and/or relevant experience.


  • Must have supervisory experience.


  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.


  • Need strong driver relations skills and problem solving ability.


  • Conflict resolution, must be able to handle stressful situations as they arise and have a customer oriented mindset.


  • Bulk, propane, liquid experience would be desirable but not necessary.


  • Must be hands-on when necessary and willing and able to help out other dispatchers.
