Recovery Co-worker - IKEA - London





To effectively manage and develop the Recovery and Environment work in the store in order to:

Minimise loss and maximising profit.


Help ensure that the store has an overall positive impact upon the local environment and community it is operating in.


Secure the efficient and responsible handling and administration of all returned and transferred merchandise, whilst also influencing others to eliminate the need to do so where possible. By doing this we will ensure IKEA’s position as the leading home furnishings retailer in the local market on Environmental issues.


PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To work as a member of the Environment and Recovery Team with your primary focus being the practical implementation and monitoring of the recycling operation in the store (Key partner is the Environmental Specialist), and the day to day maintenance of the Bargain Corner sales area (Key partner is the Environment and Recovery Manager)


KEY ASSIGNMENT


  • To support the handling and administration of returned and transferred items with the objective being to minimise loss and maximise profit.

  • To support with creating an awareness and understanding across the business of the Merchandise/Returns and Recovery Systems (MR&R) and the operational, cost, and environmental benefits of an effective operation.

  • To work within store to ensure that internal damages are minimised and the Recovery Department supported.

  • To work closely with the Customer Service Department to ensure high levels of customer service in relation to SAM/SACS system, spare parts and customer picks.

  • To ensure that effective, efficient and systematic waste management is maintained and supported within store.

  • To contribute towards the continual development of the store’s waste management system, with the twin objectives being to maximise its potential, and to ensure that waste material is disposed of with regard to both environment and economy.

  • To be responsible for the administration of, and collections by, a strong external network of organisations, which the Store supports with waste materials and, when appropriate, to help support local environmental projects.

  • To proactively work with individuals and departments on waste segregation and disposal and minimising their environmental impact both at work and at home.

  • To support with the communication of tasks and monthly results of the store’s waste recycling to co-workers using all available media and contributing towards an annual environmental report.

  • To help implement and/or maintain the continual education of all Co-workers on waste management issues throughout the Store.

  • To help achieve your annual departmental action plan and goals, in line with IKEA’s environmental policy, corporate strategy and goals and the national environmental action plan.

4 x 20 hours (5 out of 7 days)


Must be available to work weekends and late shifts.
