Business Analyst with settlements

BACKGROUND:
Leading bank is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to work on several projects , each at a different stage of their life cycle. In the London Team you could work on a variety of projects at any one time. These could cover:
• New business services
• Operational improvements
• Regulatory changes
• Improvement or replacement of infrastructure


REQUIREMENTS:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in an IT department.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial services company ideally in settlement.
• Knowledge of the CREST system and the market within which it operates.
• Ability to operate effectively with business stakeholders.
• Expertise in requirements elicitation, business analysis techniques and methodologies.
• Experience in using business process modelling and UML in analysis.
• Strong analytical, logical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to chair meetings, facilitate workshops and deliver presentations.
• Ability to produce structured documentation which is clear, concise and complete.
• Thorough understanding of the IT development and implementation process.
• Previous experience in working with Design teams to propose and evaluate solutions and in working with Test teams to validate the scope of testing.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Self-confidence, motivation and willingness to take the initiative.
• Ability to plan your own workload to meet project deadlines.


Desirable


• Education to degree level or hold a relevant professional qualification at the same level.


• Holder of recognised BA qualifications from BCS or IIBA.


• Holder of recognised business qualifications relevant to financial services.


• Deep and broad knowledge of the settlements system from both a business and IT perspective.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The BA is involved from project initiation through to launch and beyond, offering on-going support to the business teams.


In this role you will act as the interface between the business teams and IT teams. You will be responsible for:


• Understanding the drivers behind business change.


• Leading process analysis and business requirements gathering.


• Producing the relevant internal and external documentation using appropriate business analysis techniques.


•Assessing the impact of change on business teams.


• Liaising with technical teams to ensure that technical solutions meet business needs and requirements.


• Supporting testing teams through business test execution.


• Actively contributing to delivery by working closely with business teams throughout the project life cycle.


Job Description:
Project initiation


• Consult with IT and business teams to capture their various, business requirements.


• Liaise with business and technical architects to ensure that solutions are approached in a consistent manner.


• Appreciate the business dependencies between existing services and projects and highlight any impacts on the business.


• Review deliverables produced by other teams for the business case notably high level design, test strategy and launch strategy.


• Provide input to the risk assessment carried out as part of the initiation.


Design support


•Understand the operational impact of proposed design solutions and facilitate discussions with the business teams.


Analysis


• Liaising with the Project Sponsor to understand the drivers for the project, the wider market into which the change is being delivered and the needs of EUI’s clients.


• Running workshops, meetings and interviews to capture the functional and non-functional business requirements from all impacted business teams.


• Producing detailed requirements documents following relevant methodology and techniques including the use of process diagrams, use case diagrams and activity diagrams.


• Holding walkthroughs of requirements documents with other teams and business teams to ensure requirements are understood and reviewed by all stakeholders, and signed off within the timelines agreed in the project plan.


• Working with EUI business teams to ensure that they understand the impact on their team or on clients so that the activities that they need to carry out for business readiness are captured.


•Keeping the Project Leader informed of progress on analysis and raising any business risks or issues.


• Reviewing the documents of other business analysts before they are issued to stakeholders.


Business support


• Produce client facing documentation relevant to the project.


• Support Legal in making changes to legal documentation covering the services offered by EUI.


•Produce technical newsletters to describe changes to ISO proprietary messages.


• Review Operational bulletins published to clients detailing functional changes being implemented in releases.


• Review other documentation produced by business teams as required.


•Support queries from business teams as required.


Testing


Contribute to and review the testing strategy for a release.


Support the test team by proposing business scenarios that should be tested
