Electrical Engineer - P. Eng


Our client is currently seeking a Professional Engineer (electrical) who will assist in the electrical design of buildings in the residential, commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.

This is a full time position with a competitive salary which includes a benefits package.


Responsibilities:
•produce engineering analysis, evaluations, designs and implementation for electrical systems
•complete electrical design drawings and documents, including power distribution, photometrics, lighting systems design, controls, emergency power, fire alarm, and data communication systems
•prepare electrical single line drawings, panel schedules, details, etc.
•prepare tender packages for procurement of equipment and installation
•coordinate with other design disciplines
•review shop drawings
•assist with field reviews during construction, prepare site instructions and field review reports
•communicate with clients, building owners, architects, contractors, utilities, building authorities and contractors
•update and manage the master electrical specifications
•work through construction support issues
•project management including planning, proposals, scheduling, delegation of responsibilities, project supervision, technical content and review, client liaison, invoicing and profitability
•direct and train junior designers
•assist with marketing of services and writing proposals


Qualifications:
•Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
•Licensed P.Eng. – registered with PEO
•minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering design experience for buildings
•background in high rise commercial building construction
•comprehensive knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, ASHRAE and other applicable codes and standards
•AutoCAD a must have (*experience with Revit would be an asset)
•experience in consulting engineering in the residential, commercial, or industrial building sectors
•working knowledge of load, voltage drop, fault and lighting photometric calculations, as well as protection and coordination study and design issues
•ability to work on multiple projects at once
•experience in site investigation and construction reviews
•practical building systems design experience with electrical systems
•ability to work with clients, project managers, building operators, contractors, and product suppliers in a professional manner
•computer literacy including proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
•eagerness to learn and accept new challenges
•English speaking with proficient verbal and written communication skills
